I recently decided to spend some time exploring another neighbor state, Kansas. I had pretty much lumped Kansas into the same drap box of
boring states as I had previously with Nebraska. So, deciding I should explore before passing judgement,
I spent eight days traveling primarily on the state's 12 designated byways. I was again well rewarded with areas of beautiful scenery,
historic and eye-catching buildings, and with the same friendly and welcoming people that I have found in all of small-town America.
I've grouped the photos into three general themes:
'Our Town' for buildings or other items of particular character;
'Wallscapes' for local self-promoting murals or building-side painted ads; and
'Cinemas' for early to mid-1900's movie theaters, most still operating as such.
I hope you enjoysome of the photos.
Full disclouser, a handful (literally) of the photos are from towns on the far eastern plains of Colorado
